Family Tree Magazine Seeks Beginning Genealogy Blogger

Family Tree Magazine is seeking a genealogy newbie to become our next Family Tree Firsts blogger!

The third annual Family Tree First Blogger Contest will identify a beginner genealogist to follow in the footsteps of Shannon Bennett and Nancy Shively in blogging about their genealogy experiences and discoveries at FamilyTreeUniversity.com.

Family Tree Magazine editors will select a winner based on strength of application. Over the course of six months, the winner will have access to our how-to genealogy products, Family Tree University classes and webinars, products, services and surprises from our partners. You'll blog between one and two times a week to tell the whole world about your genealogical finds, trials and tribulations. Your writing may even find its way into the magazine.

So if you enjoy writing, have a sincere interest in your family history and are just starting with your genealogy, we want you!

To enter, follow this link to fill out an application and compose your first .... This will help us get to know you and get a feel for your blog. To see an example of how the blog currently looks, here is a post by Shannon: “Local Routes to Nearby Roots.”

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 16. We'll notify the winner by Dec. 1, and you'll begin blogging with your holiday genealogy plans! Note that Family Tree Magazine reserves the right to feature your posts in any and all print and electronic media.
