Have you ever had the experience of being contacted through some genealogy website by a cousin you've never met or even knew you had? It happens to me all the time and it's really a great experience to connect with someone with the same family roots that grew into you!

While some of these encounters develop into lifelong communication, others come and go; but cousins can be a wonderful source of genealogical data, stories, and most importantly photographs that you didn't even knew existed.
And sometimes it's not even the original person who contacted you, but some other cousin they knew who holds a treasure trove going back many generations.

This was one of the treasures a cousin recently sent me of my great-great grandfather, Pablo (Paul) Pryor. I only had one other picture of him before receiving this one, so it was quite a delightful surprise and pleasure.

Have you ever received family photographs or information from a "long lost cousin"? Share you story here, and tell us about it.

I stumbled upon a cousin through google while searching for Benoni Grant and we've been in contact for the past 2 years. I also recently found another cousin that also connects to me because of Benoni Grant. It turns out we all have him and his son William in common. One of them let me copy a picture of her great grandfather. I also recently received an email from my grandmothers FIRST cousin a few months and thought that was pretty cool because thats the closest relation I've got an email from(well besides my aunt!)

Oops, that's great-great granddad in the checkered vest. His brother, Nathaniel, stands beside him.
