Ahnentafel # 20 and 21: John C. AKERS and Lucinda "Louise" DAVIS

Picture taken after 24 October 1898 as that was the birth date of Charley in the picture. Noted also is the absence of William "Willie" AKERS who died on 01 January 1911 and Albert Lee AKERS (Ahenentafel #10) who married Elon Octavia BURCHETT on 26 May 1902. Also Grace AKERS was married in 10 Jan 1906 and moved to Scioto County, Ohio sometime between 1910 and 1918 so I believe this picture was taken sometime between 1902 and 1916 but at this point it is hard to say when it was taken, but that is my best estimate.

Personal Notes for 1910 United States Federal Census for Household of John C. and Lou S. AKERS

The age given for John C. AKERS is unclear, looks to be either 30 or 50. Ancestry says 30, but upon looking at the data also given in the census by the enumerator we find out that the next 2 columns over say that he was married for 30 Years so he could not be 30 Years of age in this census. In 1900 he is listed as age 39 so I believe the age he should have been listed as in this census should have been at least 49 or 50.

Personal Notes for 1920 United States Federal Census for Household of John H. and Lu S. AKERS

There are reasons I believe that Akers H. Akers and John Hobart Akers are one and the same. One of the most important of these is the fact that his age is congruent with the age that John Hobart would have been in this census and that his wife Ada B. AKERS is listed on the next line of the census listing. So why then was John Hobart AKERS listed as Akers H. AKERS? One thing of note to me is the fact that the head of the household is listed as John H. AKERS and not John C. AKERS as it is found on several other documents. Could it also be an informant error or a version of Junior if John C. Akers was actually John H. Akers? As of yet, no middle name has been found for John C. AKERS, if H. was his middle initial could John Hobart AKERS (the son) have been named after his father?

Who was Bertha HARRISON? This census lists her as an adopted daughter of John H. AKERS (the father), but it also lists her as married at the age of 11. Was that possible back then and if so where is her husband and why is she listed as adopted by John H. AKERS if she is married? She probably was not married to Akers H. AKERS as we believe him to be John Hobart AKERS since Ada B. AKERS is listed as married underneath his name and Bertha has the last name of HARRISON.

1934 - 30 September - White's Creek, Cereda District, Wayne County, West Virginia, USA

Death of John C. AKERS, probably took place at home as they had settled in the area where he died. He is buried on a ridge in between White's Creek and Sharp's branch in an abandoned cemetery which from what I have found seems to be a family cemetery. At present I have not been able to travel to the area to check out what I was given on the cemetery for validity or to get pictures.
