Hi Velma, The Cragle and Sorber surname is well known in south Luzerne County. Hunlock Creek, Sweet Valley and Shickshinny Area. I wish I could help you as to where they came from prior to coming here but just wanted to let you know what part in this area they lived at.

Thank you, John, for your comment. I'm not sure what was my ggrandfather's religious affiliation. According to some of his children's marriage certificates, 3 of them were married by Catholic priests. The others were Evangelical Lutheran. He was not a veteran. According to his death certificate, he was born 6 APR 1866 in Indiana. However, the census record for 1900 says he was born in Germany and came to the US in 1875, (There was only one passenger list that I found a 9 year old Grosskopf but it arrived in 1873). He died 7 APR 1918 in Chicago and place of burial in Milwaukee, Wis.
I'm trying to find out who his parents were and if he had siblings. On that passenger list there was an adult, Charlotte Grosskopf, age 47, listed with H. or Heh (I assume that is short for Heinrich) Grosskopf, age 9. I haven't found any other information to prove that this Charlotte is my Henry Grosskopf''s mother. Henry married Mary Langguth possibly in Milwaukee or somewhere in that vicinity, abt. 1889 or 1890. Mary was born in Caledonia, Wisconsin. And their first 3 children were born in Milwaukee. To have shipped his body to Milwaukee for burial leads me to believe that he may have had family in Milwaukee, but I don't know. I would appreciate any leads you could give me and thank you for your help.
