For what reason did you start genealogy research?

Curiosity! As a child, during a show and tell activity in grade 6, a boy brought a war journal for one of his ancestor who fought in the battle of Abraham's plains. I started questioning my parents."Did any of my ancestors fight in this battle?" My parents knew very little about their family history. I wanted to help them discover their ancestry. In 1990, I came across a genealogy workshop for beginners that I signed up for. I have been hooked ever since.
