I am a professional genealogist so the surnames I research are primarily determined by my clients
What countries and other locations are you interested in researching?
Virginia, West Virginia
What is your level of genealogy knowledge?
If you are a genealogy expert, what are your specialties?
Virginia/West Virginia, emphasising problem solving, including forensics--working with attorneys &/or their clients to clear title to real property, determine how and if an intended use for real property can be brought into compliance with zoning and other regulations, identify the heir(s) to an intestate estate &/or the heirs-at-law in a probate matter, particularly in the last category when local law requires notification of such persons of the pending probate of a will.
For what reason did you start genealogy research?
I was working at the Daughters of the American Revolution to help defray my tuition and other expenses as a PhD candidate at Georgetown University. Finding that I both enjoyed and had a real aptitude for genealogy, I set up my own practice when I decided to leave, for financial reasons, Georgetown without completing my PhD
