Hi Again Les,

Well...my search has become somewhat frustrating as Amelia's marriage to Thomas Ferrier Wakefield is recorded as taking place in March 1900. When I was a child, my Grandmother (Winifred Esther Whitcombe), and my Mother corresponded with an Edward Wakefield. His son, Peter. is still alive and resides in England and in 2003 my brother & Peter corresponded and Peter related the following information. His paternal Grandparents were Thomas & Minnie (? Amelia) Wakefield who resided in Kent. Peter's father (Edward Thomas) was born on January 27, 1897. Edward had 2 brothers, Ernest (? b 1896) & Jack. Now, here is where I get confused as Amelia & Thomas were reportedly married in 1900 which would have been after the boys were born. Also, I can find no record (?death) of what happened to William Whitcombe. My Grandmother's maiden name was definitely Whitcombe and Peter recalled the letters his Dad used to get from her. He provided other information which has been very useful in tracking my Grandmother's history. So, please keep in touch & I can fill you in on some of the Wakefield background. I'm just hoping I have the right Amelia & Thomas!! I would prefer that you contact me via my regular e-mail which is mnthomas@shaw.ca

Hi Les,

Thanks so much for your quick response. I have been researching my Mother's family on Ancestry.com. I believe that Amelia Trollope was my maternal Grandmother's mother. Her biological father would have been Amelia's first husband, William Whitcombe. My Grandmother was born in March 1889 and a Frederick Whitcombe (same parents) was baptised on the same day as her but I can find no other records on him. How are you related to Amelia? Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Nerissa
