Hi Jim,

My name is John  Hale. I saw one of the surnames you listed in the Virginia grup is HALE. I'm seeking any info on my gg grandfather (John Hale). He may have been born 1808-1820 in one of these Virginia countied: Grayson, Washington, or Wythe. He is shown in the 1850 census for Perry County, KY with his wife Sally (Sarah Fawbush) and the 1860 census for Magoffin County, KY. Thanks for any info.

I'm in Cocke County-about 20 miles from the North Carolina line-right smack against the mountains. I had Dobkins ancestors in McMinn County-I keep kidding my husband that the Keiths followed the Dobkins through Pennsylvania into Virginia, into North Carolina, into Tennessee; and then into Missouri-where I was born and where we met. He INSISTS the Keiths were just "chasing out the undesirable elements" from each place they stopped. Anyway, sorry to hear about Larry.

Well, we are probably different tribes. We also have Larry's book, but I wasn't aware he was deceased. When did that happen? My husband's Keiths were John Wesley Keith who married Martha Ann Burk in Owen County, KY. Can't find out much about them, but all trails point to John Wesley having descended from some of the Keiths in Pennsylvania. We live pretty close to Roane County-we're about 50 miles south of Knoxville; and although we are aware of the Keiths in Roane County, have never determined if the two tribes inter-mingled.

Which "tribe" of Keiths is yours? You know "the woods are full of them". My husband's line is from Virginia into Kentucky into Missouri; and, although not sure, think they came to Virginia from Pennsylvania. Are we in the same tribe?
