My HALL g'grandfather was Newberry and he married my g'grandmother, Ida Cook. It's  very easy to find records to trace his line.  His is the only line of a direct ancestor I actually met and clearly remember that I've  traced across the Pond, so far.

I have taken DNA tests. 9 ethnicities.  Very surprising. I recommend 23andme if you want a good one.   Or Family Tree possibly.

Interestingly...Newberry was a nasty, lazy,  drunken moonshiner. Very tall dark scary  man who beat his wife  and daughters. Until my beloved grandmother Alberta held his own shot gun on him. Told him if he ever hit her mother or any of them again, she'd kill and bury him.

He lived to be old, so I guarantee he never hit them again.

I'd sure rather have traced my Ashley line! (grandma Alberta married an Ashley)

MY mother's mother was born a Hall. That line easily traces back (Thank you, to whoever researched it) to the Hall Immigrant couple from 'Clacks', Scotland. The Primrose wives of the 2 earliest Halls I've found were both Primroses...I've found multiple records, so believe it's correct. The Primrose family is very easy to trace
