William Jefferson Jones was the son of Stephen Thomas Jones of Maryland and Elizabeth Larroe McKnight of Delaware. Stephen Thomas and Elizabeth Larroe Jones migrated southward during the Creek Indian War and War of 1812, travelling through North and South Carolina and Georgia, where William Jefferson Jones was born. William Jefferson Jones was the father of Stephen Jackson Jones, my gg-grandfather. He was married to Martha Ann Earnest and their children were George Washington Jones, Mary Alice Jones, Mary Alice Evie Jones, William Larence Jones, Stephen Jackson Jones, Frances "Fannie" A Jones, Frances Ann Jones, Jefferson D. Jones, James Eugene Jones, Samuel Kyser Jones, and Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth Jones. As a grandfather, William Jefferson Jones transported his grandson, Andrew Clarence Jones and Mollie Bishop into Troupe County, Georgia where they were married in 1887. From there William Jefferson Jones joined his sons in Bazette, Navarro County, Texas.
