85 in County Mayo. Various surviving documents indicate that he leased land in Barnhill Upper and Lower in Lackan. From family history, I know that his wife's name was Sarah Corrothers.
I have learned that Patrick and Sarah had at least two sons: David (born in 1814) and Martin.David came to the United States c 1848. He is my great great grandfather, and I know much about him. His wife was Mary Kearney.
I have gleaned that the another son of Patrick and Sarah Kennedy was Martin, and he married the sister of Mary Kearney, Barbara. Thus, two Kennedy brothers married two Kearney sisters. Martin and Barbara stayed in Ireland and had at least three children: Patrick (born c 1854), John (1858-1931) and Catherine (born c 18.I have been able to find some information on Barbara and her children in the 1901 and 1911 census and from Roman Catholic church records.
In 1902, Martin Kennedy's son Patrick married Mary/Marie McLean (daughter of James and Mary McLean). They had a son named Patrick Joseph Kennedy (born 1908). I am very interested in finding out more about him and if he had issue.Martin's daughter Catherine (Kate) married the brother of Mary McLean, whose name was Anthony McLean. They had at least one child, a daughter named Mary Kate (born 1904). I would also love to learn more about her and if she had descendants. Now, going back in time before my great great great grandparents Patrick and Sarah Kennedy, I have made a working assumption that Patrick's father might have been the David Kennedy listed as an Irish flax grower in the 1796 record that exists. The location of Lackan certainly matches up, and David is a prevalent name in my family tree.If anyone has information that could help me track the ancestors of Patrick Kennedy (born 1785) and his descendants in Ireland, I would be most appreciative. They centered around Barnhill Upper and Lower in Lackan, County Mayo.…
