I'm thinking this would be a good place for everyone to gather who is interested in being part of a proof reading circle. Since everyone will have different length books, perhaps we should limit the amount of pages at a time to one person, since the task can become quite daunting. My book is going to be divided in sections so I would probably give one person one section at a time and/or give multiple people different sections at once.

If anyone is interested, just respond. And then post when you are in need of proof reading and how long your file is.

Sound good?

Caro,
I think this is a very good idea. I don't have anything to share at this time however, I might have time to proof. I used to do a lot of writing and participated in a couple of different critique groups. My suggestion would be to send the same portion, usually a chapter at a time so no one is overwhelmed, too all people in the group. That way you get different opinions back that you may want to consider, or not.

One thing the proof reader needs to consider is the "voice" of the writer and not to force changing that voice. Just some initial thoughts.

Also, I have found that you become very good friends with the people who participate in the group. It often becomes a very intimate and open relationship with each other. And there has to be considerable trust.

Again, a great idea.
Yes, I think this is a good idea, and I would be happy to help others by proofreading & having someone do the same for me. I don't have anything ready yet, though.
