Hi Rosemary,
Can you provide more information? You said the women were living with their parents on the 1850 census in Hardy Co., TN. I don't believe there is a Hardy Co., TN. Did you mean Hardin Co.? Do you know their parents first names? In any event, I was unable to locate the family. Perhaps their surname was misspelled.

Also, you said the women married Coleman brothers sometime between 1850-1860 in Tishomingo, MS. Do you have first names for the brothers?

In 1870 Tishomingo Co., MS was divided into three counties: Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo.

Judy - I do not think this is the Serena Pigg in Tishomingo County unless the ages and marriage dates given are off. I found an old message board querrie about Serena Pigg and sister both married brothers named Coleman in Tishomingo, There were Coleman on census in Tishomingo in 1860, but not married to the below Pigg girls. Sometimes Pigg is transcribed as Pegg.

Hardin Co., TN, 1850 census, 9th Civil District, #58-58
John Pigg 21 laborer born Tennessee
Ethalinda 21 Tennessee
May or Mary I (?) E. 4 born Alabama
Sarena 2 Alabama
Samuel Nolen 21 laborer Tenn

John, Ethalinda, and Samuel are persons over 21 who cannot read or write.

My note: Every census for John Pigg and family gives different ages and information, probably because he could not read or write. I have reasons to think he was a bit older than 21 in 1850. Ancestry.com has Sarena's age given as 7 for this census, but it looks like 2 to me. If May or Mary's initial is I (eye), she may have gone by Irene, as that name shows up in the family later. I do not know why Samuel Nolen resided with them or if he was related.

1860 Census, Pemiscot Co., Missouri, Solitude PO, #421-416
John Pigg 30 mw farmer born Tennessee
Etha Pigg 28 fw housewife Tennessee
Slirena 10 fw Alabama
WIlliam 8 mw Illinois
James 2 mw Missouri

John Pigg married Malinda Ward in Dec.1865, New Madrid, Missouri. She is transcribed as Malinda Want at Ancestry.com, but that is wrong. She is living with Ward parents in New Madrid in 1860. It is a hard to read document.

1870, Greene Co., Indiana, Wright Twp., #51-51
John Pigg 47 farmer born Tennessee
Malinda 26 keeping house Tennessee
Jasper 18 day laborer Missouri (William?)
James 12 works on farm Missouri
John A. 8 Missouri

note: cannot find John or Malinda Pigg after 1870 census.

1860 Tishomingo, MS, Corrinth PO
#1772-1772
Nimrod Pigg 62 born NC
Lucinda Pigg 48 TN
#1774-1774
Abner Pigg 32 born TN
Nancy 24 Ala
children, none named Serena.

Ancestry.com says Nimrod is the father of Coleman Pigg, b 1834, TN
Nimrod lived in McNairy Co., TN in 1830, and moved to Tishomingo by the 1840 census.
I do not yet know how John Pigg is related to Nimrod Pigg.
I am guessing Nimrod Pigg might be the son of Claiborn Pigg and his first wife, unless someone else has a better idea or proof otherwise.
