Two books I found interesting & entertaining were:

THE SECRET OF GUMBO GROVE, by Eleanora E. Tate, deals with a neglected African-American cemetery.

 

THE HOUSE ON STINK ALLEY, by F.N. Monjo, deals with the Pilgrims in Holland.

Two books about Eleanor of Aquitaine written for young readers.  Both are filled with colorful photographs and bibliographies. 

 

Eleanor of Aquitaine, The Queen Who Rode Off to Battle, by Ann Kramer, published in 2006 by National Geographic, Washington DC, as part of their World History Biographies series.

 

Eleanor of Aquitaine and the High Middle Ages, by Nancy Plain, published in 2006 by Marshall Cavendish Benchmark, NY, as part of their Rulers and Their Times series.
