For the last 2 years I have been working with a person from Sweden who has provided me quite a bit of information on my family from several parts of Vaster Gotaland.  We believe the first immigrants came to Minnesota in the 1860's - Anders gustaf Johansson from Kvinnestad Parish - birthdate 26 Feb. 1844.  My great-great grandparents immigrated in the 1880's to Compton, MN (Johannes Johansson from Eggvena Parish and Johanna Johansdotter from Skovde, Skaraborg).  The Johnson name in my family was changed to Oman and then Ohman due to so many Johnson's in Compton, MN.

Johannes Johansson comes up in my ancestory  as well, but our last name swiched to Sandberg when the immigrated to US. I also know they settled in minnesota in the late 1800s. I know from some of the paperwork ive seen that the origionally lived in Skaraborg Sweden. some of the names i do know of from here was Axel, Clarence and John Sandberg. Clarence was my grandfather, John was my great grandfather. If anyone can help me add to this, or knows anymore about my Swedish heritage, and or family members in Minnesota, i would really apreciate more history. Where my grandparents live has a piece of siding written on in pencil, names dates etc of when they built the house, i cant really make it out anymore because its faded and was written in swedish, and  of course i dont know how to read the language. I found a copy of a picture that my dad had that says it was of granparents in Sweden but no name of who they were, i can scan a copy if anyone is interested, and it might help pinpoint Swedish relatives.
