Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

When Ol' Myrt here ventured out into GenealogyWise, I thought I'd just experiment and make a group using GW tools -- and the Genealogists in Second Life Group was formed. Now this morning there are 80 members. WOW!

We have seen a jump in the number of genealogists joining Second Life (SL) as noted at these SL venues: Just Genealogy, the Family History Centre and the Live Roots Genealogy Zone. I've heard in-world from Barbara Collazo that Kaylee Korbitza and Russ Hazelnut and Tina Ubble have been VERY helpful with our genealogy friends who have chosen to venture into Second Life this past week. You've probably also had the chance to befriend Constantine Kyomoon, owner of Live Roots.

But with growth comes the need for additional chat hosts, someone to create a weekly meeting announcement -- something called a "helper" for lack of a better word.

We can create the organization we want over in Second Life. We're totally flexible, have a variety of wonderful "places" to meet, etc.

Some of the members of this GenealogyWise group are past genealogy chat hosts on AOL and others continue to teach genealogy online.

Let's consider if you'd like to share your genealogy knowledge AND your experience handling live online chats in the Second Life environment.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks, and here's hoping...
