My paternal grandfather was a McNeill from Mitchell county. My line is as follows: Lee (my grandfather), Charles, Archibald, and Hector. My father has done a YDNA test and we show great similarities to the McNeill clans of Robeson, Cumberland areas. Hector was born about 1815 in North Carolina but I don't know where. By the mid-1830s, my line of McNeills were in Burke county which later became Yancey and then Mitchell. Would like to communicate with any and all McNeills.

Other collateral lines from Mitchell and Yancey counties include Grindstaff, Ledford, Woody, Thomas.
