I have been researching the Grindstaff family for many years - mostly in Western NC & Eastern TN. I would like to correspond with any Grindstaffs anywhere. I know that in the early years (between 1800-1840) some migrated out of Western NC and Eastern TN into Ohio, Missouri, Indiana and other states.
Thanks,

This is not a direct ancestor, but a cousin. William R. Grindstaff, born 4 Oct 1835 Carter Co., TN; died 7 April 1905 Carter Co., TN; married 8 Oct 1854 in Johnson Co., TN to Sarah Lowe (1836-1905). They had twelve children.
Ruby - I do have the info on William R. Grindstaff and Sarah Lowe but only have 11 children and would love to know who the 12th child is. The children I have are: John H.; Rebecca; James B.; Joseph G.; Thomas George; Phoebe; Martha Mahala; Rhodecia; Catherine; Eliza and Tommy. Let me know if these are right, if I need to delete anyone and who the 12th child was.
Thanks so much!!!

I agree on all and have the 12th child as Nicholas R. Grindstaff, born 24 March 1880 and married Zilla "Zillie" Greenwell on 16 March 1899. Date of birth for him is from the WWI Draft Registration. He was in Carter County. I am also related to the Greenwells. .... Ruby
