Miller History
John Miller b. 5 Sep. 1790 d. 1829 married on 18 Feb1817 to
Harriet Hawkins b. 11 Jan 1797 d. England
Children: John Hawkins Miller, Mary Ann Miller, Louisa Miller,
George Miller, Francis Miller, & Harriet Miller.
He was found to be in the Southampton Volunteers(Southampton, England)and was an apprentice to John Hawkins(Harriet's father) as a rope maker when he was 16. HIs son, John Hawkins Miller(who I come from) was also a captain and a builder of ships(family information passed down).
When John Hawkins Miller and his family came to America he had sold all his belongings and sailed for America with Ann (Shepherd) Miller and 2 children(John Shepherd Miller and Alice Ophelia Miller). I know he traveled with John Pentland Draney(Dreany spelled on the pioneers to utah) and his family to Utah. They settled in Plain City, Utah. Can someone please help me find out if he was a Royal Navy Captain or if he was just a sailor??
