Thanks for starting this discussion. Sorry to have to ask this, but could you please correct the spelling in the title (I believe it should be Deerfield)? :-) I've added the tags with that spelling.

Have you visited Historic Deerfield? The names you are researching, especially Nims, Smead, and Rising, are very old Deerfield families going back to the late seventeenth century. There are many with these last names in the Old Burying Ground. I believe there is an eighteenth century house (a private residence, not one of the house museums) in the center of town originally built by a Nims.
Quite a few years ago. It was wonderful. A 7th gr grandfather is one in 'Common Grave' (Benjamin Wait(e) and my friend and I had a personal tour of the 'Ashley Home'.
I don't know if any of you have visited this site before but it has some great early Massachusetts documents, etc. that are online to view! It has alot of info/documents on Deerfield!
