I descend from Marshall Morton through Eleanor, her son Elias Morton and his son Robert Morton. Eleanor (Nellie) and alot of her decendants lived in north GA.

By the time the name got to my gggrandfather, John Henry, the name had morphed to Moton. Steve, my e-mail addy is aajje47@yahoo.com. Please contact me as I am descended thru Henry Morton and Rebecca Langley.....their son, John Henry, is my gggrandfather. John Henry's daughter, Ruth Moton is my great grandmother. I have John Henry's Dawes application that I will share if you'd like..it is about 35 pages or so and has quite a bit of info in it......actually any Moton/Morton/Martin that would like it, I need an e-mail addy to send it to....

My line descends from Marshall Morton through his son Marshall J. Morton, Jr.; Joshua Nathaniel Morton; John Edmond Morton, my grandfather.
Barbara, yes, the various spellings of Morton get so confusing: Morton, Morten, Mortin, Martin...even Norton. Good luck in your search.

I am descended from Marshall Morton thru his daughter, Eleanor. I have heard that she was disowned for taking up with Samuel Martin, a Native American. I am descended thru this relationship. Have found no proof that they were married. Two of the male children, Joel Jackson Morton, and Henry, were married to sisters using the Martin name. However, afterwards they used the Morton name. Confusing, huh?
