When opening Legacy in the Family view, I notice that the Male is always the highlighted individual. Now, it takes but a second to click on the wife (me) so I can then work on my line, but is there any way of setting me as the principle individual. I originally had my line and my husband's line in separate files, but following a suggestion in one of the Legacy 'newsletters' I have combined them. Also, when I work in PAF, as I am RIN1 I am the principle individual and as such appear in the primary position. If I wish to change this I just click the switch button. Is there any way of changing this in Legacy, or is it just 'the done thing' to place the male in this position?

Denise if you go into legacy and go over to the word options you will see a word called customise click this to get a new menu you will see a list of persons in your tree Click on the name that is your name then click on start up person. Legacy will then go to you each time hope this helps

Thank you, but I can't seem to find a list of names under customise - there are 12 tabs, and on the general one if I click to set the preferred family I do get a list of names, but even when I click on myself, Legacy only opens up with my family (with my husband as the 'start-up person'). I couldn't find anywhere that mentioned start-up PERSON, only start-up fammily. I tried the other way too, under Tools, and then set direct line as preferred. When I select myself, my name appears in the box, I click set preferred line, and it makes no difference, not then or when I exit and start over. All it does it place all the direct line individuals in bold so I can follow them (which is wonderful, but not what I am after). I guess it's a man's world!!!
hi Denise: There is another way to make legacy to place you as the starter family buy using the tools area of Legacy set direct line prefered in the tools section you can place your name on it so that it automatically goes to that. area. Hope this might answer your question better. Sara-Patricia Carson
Hi Denise,

I just checked my Legacy (version 7) and I can only find a way to have the starting family set and which would go automatically to both yourself and your husband

If anyone has an answer, it would be probably be Greg. Hopefully he will answer you.
