Comment by Derek Gove on February 6, 2015 at 2:16pm: I am looking for any info regarding my Grandfather William Baxter and his cousin, John Baxter, both of whom were born and raised in Kirkpatrick Durham at the very end of the 19th century, before emigrating to Canada in 1907. They were raised by a Jane Baxter(Mother of John) on Victoria Street, as listed on the 1891 census. Jane had apparently been in Kirkpatrick Durham since before the1871 census, but originally born in Parton (K'Brightshire). She was also caring for a William McKie, born at Urr and only one year of age, according to the 1891 census. Any info re any of these individuals would be greatly appreciated. I do know that William Baxter was boarding in Annan in the Bell/Frood household and working as a coachman in 1901. Thanks for any info of any kind.

I believe both my great great grandfather, Alexander (1866) and his sister, Henrietta (1870) were born in Kirkpatrick Durham. I want to learn more about the area and if there are any records available in this time period. The family appears to move a lot but seemed to return to this area and Penpont. Thanks for any input.

Comment by Heidi Walcutt on July 23, 2009 at 11:28am: Looking to find cousins and break down brick walls in Mom's line. McClellan is the family name, and have contradicting information for one Jacob McClellan born 1819. One source says he was born in Scotland, another (the 1880 U.S. Census) says he was born in Ireland. He married Anna Catherine Fetters and had at least 6 known children.

All children were born in Pennsylvania, including Samuel in 1862. It is through Samuel that I am related.

Comment by Cee Crawford on July 20, 2009 at 3:52pm: Thomas Kelton b: appx 1625 fought in the War of Dunbar and became a POW of Oliver Cromwell, in 1652 he along with 100+/- Scotchmen were sent to the Atlantic Colonies, 27 including Thomas were enslaved to Saugus Iron Works in Lynn-Hammersmith, Massachusetts. Records as we all know, unless notable, were not kept in that era. I was in hopes to locate Kelton Families in Kircudbrightshire area. 1861c Troqueer, Kbt . . Agnes Kelton, wd b: 1776, Tinwald,Dmf, dau Mary b 1807 Troqueer, dau Agnes b 1813 Troqueer. Several other Keltons in 1861 b: Torthorwalde, Tinwald, Nithsdale, Dmf to Waterfront, Annan and Kirkmaiden, Stoneykirk, Wgt Given names: James, Matthew, William, Jessie, Janet, Jean, Mary, Maria, Agnes and Peggy.
