My great grandfather, Allen Jones was born to Henry Jones and Jeanette Williams about 1845 at sea, so they say, heading toward the Isle of Man. His mother died in childbirth, and he went to live with a grandfather Thomas. Henry and son came to the US in the late 1850's and to Iowa, and entered the civil war, there. Allen was only 16 and went in as a drummer boy. They were separated, and Henry was in Andersonville prison. After the war, they each thought the other was dead, and never again met. I am trying to find any grandchildren of Henry's in Iowa. He married again after the war and had several children, I am told. A woman named Jessie was one, who may have had children of her own. Also, would like to find ancesters in England. Thomas was an attorney, I was told.
