Hello and thanks for starting this group Luckie!
I'm researching the following counties of Stephens, Elbert, Putnam, Jasper, Henry, Butts, Spalding and Monroe. I also have new found family connections in Salisbury, NC. These are my surnames:
Moore (from Perry or Dallas Co., AL by 1872), Burney, Odom, Hawkins, Morrison, Williams, Grant and Darden. Some collateral lines include: Griggs, Cobb, Gantt and McGarity

Hello All!!! I'm new to this on my own. I've been the step-and-fetch-it for my grandmother, and mother, for decades but now I'm setting off on my own to continue the hunt. I recently moved to Aiken, and am finally settled in and ready to start digging. Any tips or info on local resources would be great. My family is primarily in the Augusta area throughout the ages. Except one. My nemesis. Annie Downey. Lol. My family is known for being stubborn (apparently genetic) and this little gem is the thorn in my side at the moment. She just sort of appears in the records in the late 1800's...ready for this??? In the records of Milledgeville. Not a nice place. I went for a visit in broad daylight and trust me...not a place you'd want to be. She was put there for slipping into "catatonia" after she apparently tried to kill someone...UGH. HELP!!!!

Howdy Georgia Root Diggers & welcome to all the new Members! Forgive my tardy welcome, I've been pulled-away on "Mommie Duty" with my Son who donated a kidney to his Fiancee on Tuesday - http://tinyurl.com/mq6mbu.

Please catch-me up on any new activities & let me know if I can help with "jump starting" any new research projects.

We're all here to connect & move our Genealogy research ahead.

Cheers & happy digging!:-)

Yes, Dan and I have emailed in the past concerning our common Crumpton roots. So far, I have not made it that far east to do genealogy.

Welcome to the Georgia Root Diggers Darrell, Teri & Lori!

Darrell - are you related to the "Crumpton" in Warren Co. that does Genealogy?

Hey did you folks add your surnames & queries to the COUNTY Discussion threads for your Ancestors?

Luckie.

My family interests in Georgia are the Murdock, Powell, Crumpton, and Swanson lines. In particular, Joseph Murdock, who served witht the British during the Revolutionary War, but stayed afterwards; Jessie Powell whose son, David, fought in the War Between the States and then migrated to Texas; Luke Crumpton, and, William Nathan Greenlee Swanson (not to be confused with Nathan Graves Swanson who lived during the same time frame).
