Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

If you have one or more ancestors who founght in the American Revolution, you will surely want to check out the DAR or Daughters of the American Revolution searchable database online. It was recently opened for searching at no cost, and can be very helpful.

You can always start at the DAR homepage when you can click on Patriot Lookup.

Or you can bookmark the page for the DAR Genealogical Research System that includes several databases of information collected by the DAR since its inception in 1890. This includes family lineages that trace back to patriots in the Revolution.

The DAR information for my ancestor Aaron Bradley of Litchfield, Connecticut, included details about descendants of his son John, a younger brother of my ancestor Leaming Hawkins Bradley. Like John, Leaming and his son Sherman A. Bradley came to Wisconsin in the mid-19th century. With the DAR details, I was able to find new information about branches of the family in that era.

Give it a try - it's free. Thank you, DAR!
