My ancestor Andrew DICKSON (1710 - 1783) came from Ireland (though his ancestors were Scottish) to Antrim, Franklin Co., PA.

My wife is a Dickson. Hers came to OR and CA via AZ pioneers, Tishimongo CO, MS and TN. I got her line back to a William Dickson m. to Tabitha Chisum, but I can't any further...too many William's. She is descended from their son, Alexander Mat(thew?) and then William Hogge, William Duff, Henry Alfred, James Howard and then her.

My Lanier ancestry has many Dicksons, & Dixons. The Lanier first picked up Dickson from the daughter of William Dickson, Born 10 Jan 1739 Chester, PA. He died in Duplin, N Carolina 20 Jan 1820. His daughter Mary Dickson Lanier who married Isaac Lanier (1767-1827), was born in NC on 20 Oct 1776 and died in Autauga,AL (Huntsville, Al) on 19 May 1866. Since that time Dickson has been the middle and first name of the decendants of Isaac Lanier.
My great grandfather was Isaac Dickson Lanier (1830-1881) of Huntsville, AL. Great grandmother unknown.possibly Elizabeth) My grandfather was William Hentry Lanier. He has many half-sisters and brothers with families name Dickson or Dixon.
I knew that Dickson is only one name we have in common!! Let me know which gggg grandfather or grandmother was your family's Dickson!!
Emiko Lanier
