"Die Familien Bernsee" dating from 1743 show sons born in Germany but Fredericks marriage in New Zealand says born in Utica, Illinois USA. Have found no birth records yet.

Comment by charles Robert Brasell on May 22, 2016 at 8:03pm: I have an old family tree, "die Familien Bernsee" produced in 1937. It is German text and hard to follow but there must be hundreds of Bernsee's out there who are on it. Last entry for my family is the birth of the 3 boys 1862, 1863 and 1868. Frederick, my grandfather came to NZ about 1893 and was a gum digger but how he came and from where I do not know.
