Hi...My Barry ancestors were James Barry/Johanna Gould; James D. Barry/Julianna Coombe. Time frame is 1745-187 James and Johanna originally came from Cork via England, Spain, Portugal, and Madeira. James was with the East India Co. of London, was a wine merchant and shipper. They were Irish Catholic and were prominent in that church in Washington, DC during the time of George Washington. They were also prominent in government politics. James was consul from the Queen of Portugal to MD and VA.

My Barry ancestors come from Fermoy, Cork, Ireland. They came out to Queensland, Australia with their cousins, the Walsh family, in 1862.
