Hi Gail, I offer a complimentary consultation for you & your clients.
If you're like me, you do your share of pro bono work. My initial consultation & often the first data, document or image is also complimentary. Why? Then, they see that--omigosh--this guy really does know what he is doing & just look at this DIGITAL image that I get to save to my computer or show off to the family!
If I can find in one hour, one day, one week or even one month, what someone has not found in 30 years, then my rates are too low{;>). FYI, the "one hour" solution is NOT the exception to the rule!
HERE IS AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE: I'd like more of these. On my no find, no fee option, one client GLADLY paid me $1000 to find her ancestral place of origin in Poland (4 hours research). $100 to find her ancestor in the 1880 Census (15 minutes research).
Now, where can I find more clients like that?! Her subsequent research report can be read from a Box.net link on one of the discusssions my GW group "The German Genealogist." Download it. You won't be disappointed & you'll learn some tips & tricks there you may use in your research business.
