I am interested in Michael Wohlfahart (various spellings) - He was known in the Cloister as Brother Agonius He was known to write long hymns and was one of the first Germans to use the printing press to explain their religious beliefs. Ben Franklin knew him and took him to task in his Autobiography for not wanting to print his own beliefs and therefore be held to them. Franklin says something like Wohlfahart is like a man walking down a road in a fog. People in the fields on either side are barely visible but right in front of him everything is perfectly clear. Although he is in as much of a fog as any of them. He was known to travel down the Valley of Virginia by himself visiting Germans on the frontier and eventually travelling to the Moravian settlements at Salem NC.
