Marengo County Surnames: Kuhn, (Coon), Butchee, (spelled other ways also). Looking for Kuhn, John, sons Rudolph, Nicholas, and John. Also may have had son Jacob. Sometimes spelled Coon. Rudolph and Nicholas left Alabama after 1830. Married Marie Butchee. Believed to be part of the Vine and Olive Group
Hello,
My Surnames for Marengo County is: Davis, Dove, Hayes or (Hays). I am a beginner in genealogy....Just started researching last month. What is the best way to find a birth certificate for my maternal grandmother, Beatrice Ethel Dove b: 7 Sept 1894. She was showing up in the 1900 census in the household with her grandmother Catherine Dove. I am speculating that she is the illegitimate daughter of one of Catherine Dove's daughters. Catherine Dove, b:9 May 1839. Catherine Dove had a daughter- Henrietta Dove, b:4 July 1871. Later in the 1910 census she is listed in the household with Henrietta Hayes and going by the last name of Hayes. My mother never knew her mother.....Beatrice "Beatie" died 19 Dec 1919.....my Mother was only 4 years old....

Is it possible to even find birth certificates that old?

Thanks,
Louise
Thank you for searching Luckie.....I have a paid sub. to ancestry and have managed to track her in the Census. I was just hoping to find something official with her mother and fathers name. Thank you so much!....Louise
I just found my maternal grandmother Beatie's death certificate on familysearch.org......Oh! My! I was right......her mother is listed as Henrietta Dove...There is no father listed!
