Where can I find on-line lists of Rev. soldiers. My ancestor, Joshua Muse Seale, born 1765 in Mecklenburg Co NC, was supposed to have joined at 16 and fought with Gen. Marion, but I have no documents. If this is true he may have been in the Hornet's Nest and/or Cowpens battles. There is also some question about his birth year. He died in 1864 in Jasper County Texas.
Hi. I can tell you that the Daughters of the American Revolution has 5 Patroits listed. 2 from NC. But none named Joshua, and none dying in 1864. Good luck in your hunt.
The only Soldiers or Patriots listed in the DAR Books-are the ones that have been USED. There are many more, never used-yet. (Soldiers-for sure but with no descendants proving them yet)

You will do better making a study of the Militia List-and books on NC which list that county-in most large libraries.
Also, if the newspaper published his death-they usually mentioned his service. And since he lived that long, there may be a pension application. The Federal Archives will have this. They have forms-and fees. So best to look that up on the internet first. It has been many years since I sent for one. There are about 4 things they might have-with a different form for each. (Land, Service, Pension etc)
You might start here-and contact these-hoping the e-mail is still good-and they have this proof.

Do a search for him adding NC and Tx in places of birth and death- and get this:
