Asaph COLEGATE was born in Baltimore and fought with the Maryland Line and received a pension and land grant for land in Virginia, now West Virginia. He migrated to Huntingdon County Pa. untill around 1816 and then went to WV. His children were born in Huntingdon County. Birth records don't go back that far. Am trying to get confirmation for his daughter Nancy Colegate Welsh. He is a Patriot that is not listed in the DAR. Iam the first to try and get him in. If anyone has any suggestion where I might look for her I would appreciate it. Dianne Welch

Morgantown has a nice chapter too... not a problem...

we can find you another line if we have too also dont forget that allright..
As soon as I can get all my stuff together and make a trip to Mon. county court house and Harrison county court house . Where my patriot lived is now Marion, but when he was first here it was Harrison county. Thought I might find something on him. He was in the 1850 census living with Nancy Welch his daughter. He was 87. He was gone in the 1860 census. He died in marion county, but they don't have a record of him. Nancy died 1860 no record of her death. It was Marion County then. This is driving me crazy. LOL Dianne
I might be able to help you out sweetie. I can make a trip to the state archives and see if I can't there death records. They started back in 1853 where there suppose to be recorded by county.

Patsy would the death certificates be in Charleston if there not in the County? Asaph Moore Colegate died abt 1855. He was in the 1850 census, but not in the 1860. Nancy Welsh was in the 1860 census, but everything I read says she died in1860. I don't know where people get those dates. I have emailed bunchs of people on where they got their info. Ancestry has 47 families with her and Asaph. Can't believe that no one has ever tried to get him recognized as a patriot. The register in morgantown said no one has ever tried. I tried Wv Vital Records for Marion, but didn't get anything. If you think the record might be in Charleston. I would be grateful if you looked. I will pay you for your trouble and the fee for the certificates. My email is bodwelch3@wmconnect.com Thanks Dianne
