Seeking info on Stephen Skinner, 1794-1861, Rockford, IL

I've got pretty good info from me back to Stephen Skinner, but have been unable to find anything to confirm his parents and ancestors further back. My info indicates he may have been born in MA, travelled to Pompey, NY, Barre Centre, NY, and finally in 1839 to Rockford, IL where he was a successful blacksmith until he died in 1861. He was married 3 time -- Sophia Butler, Lydia Mead, and Sophia (Spooner) Reed.
