Daniel G. Lineberry

I am researching my husband's g.g.grandfather Daniel G. Lineberry, born 1801 in NC.  I am sure Lineberry was not the original name.  I found where he could have been born on the Cumberland/Chatham Co. NC but thats all I have.  Any help would be appreciated.
