I've met another man who is seriously searching for his Plockton Mathesons. If that's where yours hail from, I am sure he would enjoy meeting you. Let me know!
I saw the lady who is working on DNA when I visited your profile, and I have left a message for her.
Greetings Alice. WOuld you be able to "steer" me towards the location of a MathesonCastle ruin in Scotland? Looks as though my wif and I are definitely going in a couple of weeks and it would be pretty neat to take a picture. THANKS ! James Matheson
Greetings Ms Fairhurst. Yu had mentioned a few days ago that your grand niece ran a B& B in the area of Kyle of Lochalsh. My wife and I would be very interested in spending a night there since we do plan on a trip to the area. All I would need is the name and address to contact my travel agent to set it up. Thanks for the help. Have a grat day. James Matheson
Then no one of your family line has done DNA testing. I hope you will consider doing so. Since you are having problems sending email to me, what is your email address? I'll try sending email to you. --Alice
The main homeland of Clan Matheson is near Kyle of Lochalsh, across from the Isle of Skye. One of our chiefs was a Constable of Eilean Donan Castle which is in Dornie near there. My cousin Pam MacRae is a docent at the castle and runs a B & B near there. Another branch of the clan is from Sutherlandshire near Lairg. A third branch of the clan is from the Isle of Lewis. We also have other branches we are identifying.
Is your cousin Scott MacDonald Matheson? He's the only Scott that has done DNA testing. I did put an obituary for Brig. Gen.Bruce J. Matheson on USA Mathesons. I had encouraged our aviator to do DNA testing so we would know where he fit in the clan, but he never did.
Let me know if this is his son Scott, because if it is not, then no one from your branch has done DNA testing.
Hi! I double checked the Matheson DNA program to see if your name shows up as a tester. It does not, If you want to learn more, email me at email@example.com
By using DNA, we have found 12 different Matheson lines so far and are working on getting people's genealogies connected if possible.
