On my fathers side...The links go via Portsmouth to, as it appears, Liverpool. With the those concerned being in the Navy. My grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather..all appear to of been in the Navy. Though my father was in the Army.

Hi all.
Have just joined in the hope of finding more information regarding my family links.
I am most interested in the Gunter name..a very interesting family line.
My link coems via my great grandmother of my motehrs side Minnie Matilda May Gunter b.1899 in Tadley, Hampshire. Possibly, Baughurst. The line comes via the Gunters of Aldermaston, Berkshire. This then links back to Kintbury and then back to Wales, where the family seat for some 500+ years was Tregunter in the Brecons.

I announced to the HGS Exec Committee that I will be standing down as Journal Editor after the March 2010 issue and so the Society is looking for a new Editor to take over the Hampshire Family Historian. Its quite straightforward as all the setting out and design is done by an external firm (Acadia) and sent to the printers. All material is sent by email and much of the material is collated by several helpers - its just a question of pulling it all together, writing a few articles. Anyone interested, contact me or Len Ruffell the HGS Chairman.
