Are there any Acker, Aker, Akers, or Hale's in the TN group, or does anyone know of any of these surnames that have done a Y-DNA test, so I can compare my Y-DNA results?
My family is mostly in Greene County, Missouri with a few in Johnson and Polk Counties (also Missouri). And before that from Kentucky (Calloway County area), Tennessee (Wilson, Sumner, Dekalb Counties), North Carolina (Stokes, Richmond, Wake, Guilford Counties) and even a few in Virginia (Sussex, Southampton Counties).
My surnames are Gates, Hagerman, Justice, Coffman, Robinson, Woodward, Climer, Hanor, Archy, Barham.
Some allied families are Rice, Killingsworth, Lackey, McMillian, Sullivan.
I am seeking information on marriage of James Alexander Attaway and Sarah ? in about 1890 timeframe. They had several children but I believe she died about 1906_08. They lived in Chester, Madison, Henderson county areas. He was a son of William Robert Attaway and Elvira Preslar Attaway.
A before unknown cousin was located who is the great granddaughter of Henry Hale a brother to John Hale, my great grandfather. She stated that her mother (Mary Quinn) always told her and her brother they were not really Hale. They were AKERS. Her mother told them an Aker was adopted either by Henry Hale or his father John Hale, my great great grandfather.
Henry Hale, his brothers, Silas and Madison are shown in the 1860 census for Magoffin County, Ky and the 1870 census for Hawkins County, TN.
Would any one know of any Acker/Aker/Akers that was taken in by a Hale family? Thanks for any help.
