Hello - Just joined. My name is Jim Avery, but my DNA says I am more closely related to the Perry family. So I am trying to find where my Averys and Perrys crossed paths. I trace my Averys back to Jacob Avery b.ca 1784 in PA. He lived in Bradford Co PA. My Averys are not from the Groton Clan but may have lived in Massachusetts at one time. They may have also lived in NY State. Anyone with an Avery Connection with the Perrys? Trying to find that elusive Non Parental Event, Ancestral Malfuntion or some simple jumping the fence. or maybe an adoption. Any help appreciated. Jim Avery Dover PA

i am descended from a perry line from new york state- i will try to see what i can find for you in that tree as far as avery but if there was an adoption NY State it one of the most difficult to obtain any records from - especially if it was within the past 75 to 100 years. i have much perry genealogy frm ny state & some pennsylvania but it is all older than the past 100 years. avery could have fallen into any area since then ? what is the furthest back you can trace your avery line ?

Hi - thanks for your response. The oldest Avery I have connected to me is Jacob Avery b ca 1784 in PA according to his census. There is a good chance that his parents were William and Elizabeth Avery. William died in 1834 in Bradford Co PA. Jacob is mentioned when William's estate is sent to probate, but no actual will was filed. There is an Avery in Tompkins Co NY which is near Ithaca whose name on the census looks a lot like Perry. Any of your Perry's from that area? The Perrys that I relate to in the DNA tests seem to come from Watertown MA. But it could also be that these Perrys are really Averys. I would be interested in what you might be able to tell me.I am in the chatroom alot so drop in and lets talk about this. Thanks again for your interest.
