In case you haven't heard, there's a special event planned at the FGS Conference in Little Rock. If you are, you will want to join in on an Open Forum on Blogging, Social Networking, and Podcasting
that will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 5:00-6:00 PM in Governors Hall IV in the conference center, site of the FGS Conference.
The Federation of Genealogical Societies is pleased to host an open forum for everyone interested in meeting, networking, and discussing blogging, social networks, and podcasting. Everyone is invited, beginner to experienced!
Drew Smith, author of the new landmark book, Social Networking for Genealogists
(Genealogical Publishing Co., 2009), will kick off the session. He will briefly describe each of the tools and then open the floor to questions and discussion. Drew will be joined by co-facilitators: Jim Ericson and Gena Ortega of FamilyLink.com, whose services include WorldVitalRecords.com and Genealogy Wise, the new genealogy social network; and George G. Morgan, blogger and co-host of The Genealogy GuysSM Podcast. In addition, bloggers and podcasters will be invited to attend and share their wealth of knowledge and experience.
If you're going to the FGS Conference, we hope you'll join us to meet, greet, and "live social" that afternoon. You can also pick up your special badge ribbons to tell other attendees that you're into blogs, social networking, and podcasts.
Please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know if you'll be there!
I'll look forward to seeing you there!
George G. Morgan
