Hi Alison,
I was so delighted to see your interest in Mary Gurd as she was the sister of my 3xgtGrandfather John Gurd. I had also seen in the 1841 Census her husband was recorded as John and not James, maybe he had both names but was known as his second name, so many did just that ! Look forward to contact with you and if you would like to get in touch direct its joy_lewis@zen.co.uk - Regards Joy

Hello Alison
I have tried to link you as a friend to the Gurd group, but so far the site won't allow me to link unless I have your email address. If you don't want to publish it on the net, you can write directly to dgurd@gotadsl.co.uk
I have my elderly mum here for the day, but promise I'll be in touch about the Harrises this evening. I agree with you but there is a 1841 census which places a Mary Harris of the right age in Donhead St Mary, with a John Harris, not a James. Am I looking at the wrong one? I suppose it's likely that John wasn't her husband, but with no relationships given the 1841 isn't helping much!
Best wishes, Dot
