Whispers From The Past Family History Research Service

I am a family history researcher and owner of Whispers From The Past Family History Research Service. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and am the past president of the Genealogical Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania. I teach genealogy classes for the Community College of Allegheny County’s Community Education Program and am a member of the Mt. Pleasant Township Historical Society and the Montour Railroad Historical Society. I am also a moderator for the Champion Coal Yahoo discussion group.

Whispers From The Past Family History Research Service specializes in researching the histories and genealogies of southwestern Pennsylvania families in the counties of Washington, Greene, Westmoreland, Fayette and Allegheny county. My expertise is in ancestors located in these areas from pre-Revolutionary War times through the mid-1900’s and also in the coal history and coal miners of southwestern Pennsylvania. Besides genealogical research services, Whispers From the Past can provide family genealogy booklets, family tree charts and family genealogy computer CDs.

I have a great interest in southwestern Pennsylvania coal history as my father’s family have been coal miners for six generations going back to the early 1850’s in Scotland, England and Wales. My ancestors immigrated to the southwestern Pennsylvania coalfields from 1870 to 1910. With such a long family history involving coal, I created a digital presentation entitled “Life in a Pennsylvania Coal Patch” as a tribute to my ancestors and to educate others to the hardships and difficulties these coal miners and their families endured. “Life in a Pennsylvania Coal Patch” is available for presentation to genealogical, historical, and educational groups.

Check out my website at www.whispersfromthepast.webs.com for more information on my services.

Also, check out my family histories on the Ceney, Downey, Dempster, McIntrye, MacNamara - Mack and Nixon surnames in Pam Nixon's Publications below.

HI Pam  I would like to contact you about your genealogy research paper you did in 2011 about the descendents of William Nixon.  I have been working on my own and with some others and the best we can verify is that I am a descendent of George Nixon and Elizabeth Arnold. Thank You

Thanks, Pam. I thought it was just for creating publications like magazines. It's good to know it has other uses. I'll give it a try.

Pam; I see you added doXtop application to your site. What do you think of it? I'm interested but curious to see what others experienced. Thanks. - Lisa
