Hi Amy,

Have you joined the Yahoo Group...LithuanianGenealogy yet?  That is an extremely active group with members from around the world.  I recommend joining them and posting your family name to the subject line.  Everyone is so very helpful with suggestions to start your research.  They have helped me decipher old church documents etc.

I have been at this for about two years now and this yahoo group is by far the most active.  Although, I highly recommend joining other websites because some people like some vs the others etc.  I like genealogywise because of its chat room, but haven't been able to use for my specific questions yet.

I checked the Lithuanian telephone directory and found a MARCINONIS which is close to your surname spelling.

What do you think?

If you like I can try to find something. If you want to give me what information you have to michellemariemcgee@gmail.com, Also any stories or things someone may have said help too believe it or not. I will be more than glad to help. I am not a professional by any means, but I believe it is important to know where you come from and see if there are any others out there looking for lost family as well. I can look through the book my cousin gave and see if there are any other places to find Lithuanian heritage documents. It is an ongoing effort and results don't alway happen immediately. Let me know.
