I’m trying to research my 7x great-grandfather Dr. Jeremiah Johnson who served with the British as a general surgeon during the Seven Year’s War.

Jeremiah’s story is this: He had contracted malaria and got off of the ship in the New York City harbour. He conveniently “forgot” to get back on the ship. He later went on to live in Staten Island, New York and married Rebecca Haines/Haines/Haynes at the Dutch Reformed Church in New Paltz, Ulster County, New York.

Rebecca and Jeremiah had 3 children: Henry and the twins Jeremiah James and Ann Nancy. All three children were born in Staten Island, New York.

If you’d like dates, just ask. I’m trying to figure out who Dr. Jeremiah Johnson’s parents are. He died of small pox in 1753.
