I am searching for information on the family of Jesse Lake and Rebecca Taylor, who appear to have lived in Ohio for about 5 years around 1839. I have information that lists the place of birth for some of the children as Howard, Knox, Ohio and others that say Warren, Trumbull, Ohio. I did find a matching family in the 1840 census in Trumbull County. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Kathy, I am a volunteer on RAOGK.org also, for Trumbull County. I searched my collection of Trumbull County books, but could not find Jesse Lake or Rebecca Taylor mentioned. Here are the books I checked:

Allen, Ruth, compiler, "Trumbull Co, OH Bible & Family Records", Evansville, IN: Whipporwill Publications, 1989

Grayson, Hyde, Layfield, editors, "Trumbull County Ohio Birth Records 1867-1908", Cortland, OH: Howland Printing, 2001

Hyde, Mazer, Layfield, editors, "Trumbull County Ohio Marriage Record Index, One hundred years 1800-1900," Cortland, OH: Howland Printing, 1998.

Layfield & Hyde, editors, "Trumbull County Ohio Death Records 1867-1908", Cortland, OH: Howland Printing, 2004

Ohio Genealogical Society, compilers, "Trumbull County Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions 1800-1930," publisher unknown, 1983.

Winnagle, Mrs. Grace M., abstractor, “Abstracts of Probate Records, Trumbull County Ohio, Nov 1803-August 1843", Trumbull County County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical Society, 1986

Emily L. Varner, compiler, "The People of Trumbull County 1800-2000", Cortland, OH: Howland Printing 2000.

Allen, Ruth, Compiler, “Trumbull County Ohio Cadastral or Land Ownership Maps 1830-1840-1850", Evansville, IN: Whipporwill Publications, undated. (there was only Alva and Daniel Lake listed as landowners in this book.)
TRUMBULL COUNTY RESOURCES:
I would highly recommend either calling or writing to the Trumbull County archivist, Emily Varner (118 High Street NY, Warren, Ohio 44481). The archivist and her staff are incredibly helpful and have access to most all original TC records, including birth, death, marriage, probate, wills, land, etc. The entire Archives staff are very helpful, and their fees are very reasonable - between a few cents to a few dollars for copies, depending on what they are.

Another great resource is the Warren-Trumbull Co Library Genealogy room (444 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren, Ohio 44483, (330) 399-8807 ext 120). Along with obituaries and local area newspapers (back to the early 1800s), they have the Trumbull County historian from the early 1900s, Grace Winnagle’s research notes in a file cabinet organized by surname. Again, the staff are wonderfully helpful.

Looking for Brewster, Kerschner, and Brown families in Trumbull Co., OH 1900-1940

I am still looking for information on Richard Orville Kerschner.  He was born in 1817 in Trumbull Co.  He was the son of Clarence Kerschner and Maggie Jane Brown of Pickaway, OH.  Richard was "adopted" or raised by the Brewster family.  He found out at 18 that he was not a Brewster but a Kerschner.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Pete

I am trying to find information re: Martin Shellenbarger b)1781 in PA.  Martin is found on 1850 Trumbull co census in Berlin.  Wife, Nancy Strickler Shellenbarger left Trumbull Co with s-i-l George Ross and wife Sally for Ashtabula Co in 1855, so Martin must have passed away between 1850 and 1855.  Martin and Nancy were Mennonite.  I can find no death or burial record for Martin in Trumbull Co.  Can anyone help?
