Lost Gates in Texas

I have a great grandfather who was born in Texas 1862 (?) Lived in Danville , Montgomery, TX , He married my great grandmother,Margaret Louisa Kirby of San Jacinto County TX , in Polk County TX in 1894.

I find him on the 1870 census with mother Elizabeth Gates,

Brothers John& James Gates b. 1851

sister Mary Gates b. 1853

brother William b. 1854

brother Franklin Carter Gates b 1859

DANIEL JESSE GATES b. 1862 (my ancestor)

I find him again in 1880 living with his brother Franklin and James I believe. Frank was married and Elizabeth was dead of gastrointestinal disease. Not sure where she is buried. I have not been able to find any father for this family. I know that they moved to Danville abt.1860. Her death certificate states taht she had lived in Danville 20 yrs. Certificate is dated 1880. If anyone has any info it would be great.

Also this family lived in Alabama before migrating to Texas. All children and both parents were born in Alabama except my great grandfather. Also it appears they made it to Danville shortly after arriving in Texas.
