Couch family as Millers, Langtree & Buckland Brewer, Any evidence out there?

Hi, I've just joined the site.  I have been researching my Great-great grandfather Thomas Couch,DOB 1798 at Langtree, Devon, he moved to Goulceby in Lincolnshire, married Sarah Tuxworth a farmers daughter.  Children were born there, then moved to Tealby in Lincs, where he worked as a miller at Tealby Thorpe,  more children were born,  Then to Crowle where his last child was born, he purchased the 'West Mill' on Mill Road.  A Post mill.  Of course there is a lot more information, which I have researched.  What I am after discussing is;  the early year prior to 1829, where did he learn his trade? Devon or Lincolnshire?  He had a brother James (1788) also a miller at Claythorpe in Lincolnshire.  Why did both brothers uproot to Lincolnshire?  Devon was rural and the working class had to struggle, was this the reason?  Was their Father James (1750) a miller.  Some thin evidence has him as an agricultural laborer.

I like to obtain evidence if any!  of Couch's working around the Langtree and Buckland Brewer areas.  As one brother is down as born in Langtree (Thomas) & the other Buckland Brewer (James)  Did they learn milling in Devon or Lincs'!  Any help would be appreciated, even if I already have it, as it further compounds the matching evidence.

Regards .... Pete

Hi Peter, I see you are from Scunthorpe and I wonder if we are related. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Freda Couch from Scunthorpe.  She had a sister called Peggy and their parents were Charles William Couch and Lydia Butterworth.  I have been given some info from another researcher that Charles's father was George Couch born abt 1865 Crowle,  and his father was William Couch who was born 1842 in Tealby, and his father was Thomas Couch born Devon.  Does this info match up with your family?

Regards Karen

Hi Karen, yes we are definitely related.  Thomas Couch of Devon (born 1778, Langtree) is my Great-great Grandfather.  My Dads name is Fred, he still lives in Crowle and is 95.  I have much on the family history, I use Ancestry.uk as my search engine.  The family tree is on there.  If you need any info just ask!

Regards. ....... Pete

Oh that's brilliant, thank you for your reply Peter, I will join ancestry and have a look at the tree, thank you.  My dad lives in Gunness, so not too far away from your Dad in Crowle!

Regards, Karen.
