I have a question.I would like to buy the legacy program right now.But with Microsoft replacing it's current windows I am wondering about the timing. If I have to replace my computer in a year or so and the program won't work with the new windows how easy, reliable are those patches(I don't know the correct name)that you can get so you can use software that was not designed for current window use? Will they work with something like a genealogy program? Is it reliable?I hate to spend money on software that has to be updated when there really is no advantage except to make money for people.

I'm using Legacy 7.0 on the beta ver of Win 7 right now. No problems.
Good question and valid concerns. We've had people test Legacy with the upcoming Windows and they've reported that it runs well. Hope this helps some....
Hi,
Legacy works fine with the Windows 7 makeover of XP as well so do not see any issues that ought to trouble you at all.
Secondly based on past experience with Legacy Deluxe it is only on Major up grades that you pay, any bug fixes or patches are completely free.
The last Major was to version 7, Deluxe is now Version 7.0.0.100 which is the latest build.
From what I understand about Windows 7 is that it is a far more user friendly version of Vista with all the good things of Vista and XP combined and improved on with out it being so much of a memory hog like Vista.
The bloat has been cut done to make it operate in a cleaner faster fashion.

Personally I would say go for Deluxe, you will not regret it.
I have been using Legacy Deluxe since about version 5 that is about at least for five years minimum and have never had an issue.
I would recommend that you keep your data where you have control over it and in a place that will not abuse you or take your data without you knowing.
Best place to keep it in my opinion is on your Hard drive, having said that back it up onto a CD, Pen Drive or DVD at lest once a month.
I too have loaded Legacy 7 on Windows 7. I just opened Legacy a few minutes ago and ran the 7.0.0.100 update and all went well. From everything I have read, the core OS is much like Vista. Since Legacy runs on Vista it should run fine on Windows 7. I haven't used every Legacy feature under Windows 7 so I can't make a complete statement about total usability. I have created a new family file and it went fine. I have copied an existing family file to the Windows 7 machine and everything is fine. I don't believe that there are any worries about buying a new computer with Winows 7 and running Legacy 7. Besides, if you buy a new computer a year from now, Windows 7 will have been out for almost 10 months. That should be enough time to iron out any minor problems.
Thank you all for the great input!I feel better about making this purchase.I have used FTM for a number of years and it is okay but I really want more flexibility with sources and just to try something new I guess!I just get tired of throwing out perfectly useful software because of windows changing!
I would not worry about Windows 7 working with Legacy. The folks a Legacy are very supportive and it has been my experience, that they will fix any buggs that might come along. The ting you should br concerned with is always back up you data.
