I'm curious if anyone has used any of the browse collections that FamilySearch has added to it's site: http://pilot.familysearch.org

(Click on the map and navigate to the country of interest. There are browse collections available for: Spain, Mexico, and Argentina).

I'm looking for feedback - how useful have you found the collections? What would you like to see done differently? etc.

thanks,

-Lynn

I checked it out and I see there's a lot of info from Mexico. In my case we're from Puerto Rico and have not pulled up any familiar names.
I have used the collections, for Mexico.

It would have been better if the collections, were cross referenced with the film numbers. Also, there are certain books, from the different parishs that are not there, but they are on microfilm, at the FHL.

Other, than those 2 problems, they have been of great help.

thanks,
Jonathan
dary321 - Puerto Rico will eventually have it's turn...only a matter of time.

Jonathan Walker - glad you are finding value, I appreciate your feedback about film #s, and missing books. Quick tip: if you are researching in a parish that was on microfilm X item 4, check the FHLC and see what was on items 1-3. The images from item 4 could have been included with items 1-3.

thanks for the feedback,

-Lynn
Hi Lynn,
Yes I tried it. Is the pilot the same as the alpha? I guess not.

I love the alpha version. I didn't know that you were able to click on the map for the pilot one.
With the alpha one what I do is type in a surname and click on "place". It gives me a list of places to choose from.

Record Search is a stand alone site but will be apart of FamilySearch Alpha.
